In the UK, spend on web advertising has passed spend on tv advertising for the first time. Why is Ireland still lagging way behind?

I am meeting companies on a weekly basis who say…”Why hasn’t our Ad Agency told us about this digital stuff” or ” Our PR guys never mentioned this”. Many companies are now doing end runs around their agencies and dealing directly with Digital Marketing Professionals.
2. Old Boys
Many Agencies are run by middle aged men who think the web is about technology, fail to grasp the medium and continue to advise their clients badly.
3. Cosy Cartels
The company hires the agency to plan and execute their advertising campaign, the agency charges the company to do this but then also takes a kickback from the advertiser for getting them the business. Roll on the recession and the great clear out.
