There probably has never been a device that is set to change the face of advertising as much as the iPad will for the print media business. But of all the creative ideas you’ll ever see on a tablet, very few will be as original as this one from Audi.
They say that the best ideas in advertising are the simplest, and this piece of creative genius certainly falls into that category. It’s an advert for the new Audi magazine which recently launched in Brazil, and it appeared within publications on the iPad.
Once users saw it, they instantly recognized it as the swipe gesture used to unlock most phones. After racing their finger around a track, they were rewarded with a free download of the first copy of the new Audi Magazine from the app store.
The only thing that surprises me is that Apple allowed them to use some of their core functionality within an ad, especially given that feature could be at the center of a large looming patent war. Either way, this advert is absolute genius and deserves to win all sorts of awards. Simple is indeed best.
